Tomas Armando Gonzales

Fort Garland- 88, passed away on March 17, 2007.  
Tomas was born on October 28, 1918 in Russell,
Colorado, son of Abran and Refugio Gonzales.  He was
united in marriage to Frances Roybal on August 29,
1953.  

He was in the Army during WWII in the Pacific Theater as
a medic, for he received 2 bronze stars. Tom taught
school for 2 years while getting established in business.
He and his family ran the Old Fort Market for 29 years.
He loved history, prospecting and was active in county
and community affairs.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, 8 Children;
Ken (Lisa) Gonzales, Fort Garland, Errol (Edi) Gonzales,
Commerce City, Pamela ( Patrick) Allaart, F.G., Alvin
Gonzales, Denver, David (Coleasha) Gonzales, F.G.,
Chris (Ruby Jean) Gonzales, Aurora, Joni ( Patrick)
Maes, Aurora .Patty Gonzales, Denver 18 Grandchildren
and 8 Great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Celebration was held Thursday, March 22,
2007 at the Blanca/ Fort Garland Community Center at
10:00 AM

In Lieu of Flowers Donations may be made to the Fort
Garland Revitalization Committee C/O Box 459 Fort
Garland, CO 81133.
Arrangements were made with Weylen’s Funeral Home of
