Esmeralda Olivas Romero, 94
Esmeralda Olivas Romero went to be with the
Lord on August 24, 2009. She was born on
June
27, 1915 in San Pablo, CO to Pedro Olivas and
Angelita Padilla Valerio. On November 19,
1943,
she married Moises in the San Francisco De
Asis
Church in Ranchos De Taos, NM. Esmeralda
retired from Centennial School District in San
Luis, CO with over 17 years of service. She
enjoyed cooking, playing cards, traveling and
spending time with her family. She was an
ardent supporter of the land struggle and
prayed
her Novena for 21 years until the 2002 victory.
Her beloved husband and sons George and
David Romero precede her in death.
She is survived by her children: Eddie Romero,
Shirley (Ray) Otero, and Dorothy (Bob) Vigil;
grandchildren: Yolanda (Isaac) Ortega, Eddie
(Karen) Romero, David (LouAnn) Romero,
Krystal
Romero, Natalie (Anthony Carlo) Mack, Robert
(Rhoda Serna) Martinez, Angelina, Isabel (Matt
Logston), Felicia, and Lucia Otero; great
grandchildren; Isaac (Rayme), Gabe (Gina),
Jordan Ortega, Eddie, Tiffany Romero, RaeAnn
(Zach) Fagerstedt, Jaelyn, DJ Romero, Isaiah
Otero Tercero, Felicity Mack, Rhobyn
Martinez,
Tayah Romero; great great grandchildren
Isabella Fagerstedt, Jeremiah Ortega and
numerous nieces and nephews. Special thanks
to Berta Venegas who provided special care for
our Mother.
A Rosary will be at 7:00 PM on Thursday,
August
27, 2009 at Sangre De Cristo Parish in San
Luis.
The Funeal Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Friday,
August 28, 2009 at Sangre De Cristo Parish in
San Luis with burial to follow at San Pedro
Cemetery.
