Ubaldo Francisco (Frank) Padilla,
68
Ubaldo Francisco Padilla better known to
his family and friends as “Frank” went to be
with the Lord on November 22, 2009. He
was born on May 30, 1941, in San Pablo,
CO to Ubaldo Padilla and Natividad
Esquibel Padilla. On July 29, 1972, he
married Eliza Rivera in the St. Laurence O’
Tool Church in Laramie Wyoming.
Upon graduating from University High
School in Laramie, WY, Frank then
attended the University of Wyoming in
Laramie to pursue a degree in Accounting.
Thereafter Frank served in the United
States Air Force for a period of 4 years,
which paved a path for him enter as an Air
Traffic Controller in the U.S. Department of
Transportation. Frank then transitioned
into the U.S. Department of Labor and
retired after 25 years of selfless service to
the Federal Government.
His retirement would be short-lived as he
then continued a career with Ford Motor
Credit Company. Frank was passionate
about assisting others and giving back to
the community where he was born and
when he moved back to San Luis in 2007
he assumed the role of Director of the San
Luis Valley Low Income Tax Clinic/Land
Rights Council.
Frank enjoyed spending quality time with
his family and friends. He loved to travel
and no journey was too far for him because
the longer the road trips the more
opportunities to take “scenic” routes before
arriving at his destination. He also liked
listening to music and dancing at family
gatherings, where his presence was
undoubtedly the life of the party. Frank
was also an avid football fan who loved to
watch the Denver Broncos compete on
Sunday afternoons and regardless of the
outcome of the games, it was the time
spent with those who loved him which was
most meaningful to him. Making a
difference in his community and politics
were also dear to him. From his devotion
to talk radio to his contributions during the
2008 Presidential Campaign, Frank worked
tirelessly to ensure the needs of his
community were represented in the
appropriate forums.
He is preceded in death by his beloved
Grandmother who raised him Manuelita
Gonzales.
He is survived by his Wife: Eliza (Rivera)
Padilla; his Parents: Ubaldo and Natividad
Padilla; his Brothers and Sisters: Victor

I love you so much. You were always there to brighten up
my day, provide support and to look out for us. I thank you
for always being there. You were definitely a pillar of
strength in my life. I thank you for your jokes, laughter,

Dear family of Frank Padilla
I was a high school classmate of Frank’s at University High
School, and at our recent 50th reunion we all spent a lot of
time reminiscing about Frank, who was too ill to join us. He
was a wonderful guy, whose sense of humor and sensitivity
were appreciated by all of us. We had enjoyed his
company at previous reunions, but most of us did not have
much contact with him after high school years. We will all
miss his being part of our world, and hope that the family
will be able to take some comfort from the knowledge that
he was much loved.
Sincerely,
Gwen Lilliott
