To Mary's Family:
I only knew Mary for about 5 years, but from the
moment I met her, I thought she was one of the
most wonderful people I had known. It seemed she
was like family. I am crying as I write this just
thinking of her and how you all will miss her. You
were so lucky to have her and there will not be a
day you won't think of her and you will be sad, but
also think of the wonderful memories you will have
of her all your lives. I feel like you all are my family
now and I hurt for you. I will pray for you to be
strong through these tough times.

For Mary Santistevan family
I will always remember Mary as my “Tia Mary”, from
afternoon picnics in her back yard with my parents
when I was a little girl, and playing “Pokeno” with
her at Barlo and Carol’s. She always was a very
beautiful person, and always will be, years to come,
when I remember her… My thoughts and prayers
are with all the family at this time.

Dear Tio Ben and Family,
I am sorry that I could not attend the funeral. I was
unaware that Tia Mary had been ill or that she had
passed away until Fred told me.
I remember Tia Mary always being so cheerful. Her
beautiful smile always made me feel comfortable
despite my own awkard shyness.
I know that the pain of your loss is great, but I pray
that you are comforted to have been loved and
shared your life with such a wonderful person.

Today, February 25, 2008 I learned of this website
so wanted to share that I only knew Mary for such a
brief time and believe the way we met was not
accidental but planned by God. She will forever
remain in my memory as a special lady on whom the
Spirit of God rested and from whom His loved
flowed out to touch those around her.
Thank you Mary for being you.
My thoughts are still with the family and especially
on this day which brings added sorrow. My prayers
rise on wings of love to God above for that peace
which only He can give. God Bless the
Santistevans.

Grandma,
I will always miss you! You’re my best friend and my
rock that keeps me going, thank you for every
thing. I know you, my grandpa, and my uncle ted will
always be with me. I will never forget when we went
to Florida , camping or to Carlsbad . I had so much
fun with you when we did every thing together all
though your novellas came up, yet I would watch
them with you. I love you dearly my grandmother!

Mary R. Santistevan, 74,
of Cerro passed away on January 3, 2008 at her home
in Cerro. She was born on January 23, 1933 to
Antonio and Irene Chavez in Cerro.
She is preceded in death by her parents and one son
Ted Santistevan.
Mary is survived by her husband Benerito, four sons;
Tony (Joann) Santistevan of Cerro, Barlo (Carolyn)
Santistevan of Cerro, Steve Santistevan of Espanola,
Ronald (Rose) Santistevan of Cerro, one daughter
Charlene Santistevan of Cerro, nine grandchildren
Julie, Steve”Boomer”, Antonette, Aron, Kimberly,
Miguel Santistevan, Bryan Lovato, Adrian Cintas,
Jennica Montoya, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Rosary was held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church
in Cerro on Saturday, January 5 and Sunday,January 6
at 6:00 PM.
The Funeral Mass was held at Our Lady of Guadalupe
Church in Cerro on Monday, January 7, 2008 at 10:00
AM following with the interment at Cerro Cemetery.
Arrangements were made with Weylen’s Funeral Home
of Questa, NM. www.weylens-funeral-home.com
