The news about my Tia Fede is deeply
emotional and I write this with the
greatest respect and sincere sympathy
for her immediate family & especially for
Rose that took care of her everyday for
the past several years. My life since my
childhood flashed before me and it
continues to do so with all kinds of fond
memories. Her home always welcomed
us and she was always willing to help us
at anytime. One of my earliest memories
of her was going to get firewood and her
wielding an axe and taking it to a tree
and chopping it up into pieces small
enough to load unto the truck. This left a
huge impression on me and gave me
inspiration to accept hard work as part
of life in Cerro. She was also very close
to my own mother as they were sisters
and many times when my mom was sick
and bedridden, who else, but Tia Fede
was there to help take care of her till
she was well enough to resume the hard
work that was required in those days,
not so long ago, to maintain and feed a
growing family. I will shed many tears
and celebrate her life forever as if she
were my own mother and yet I see a
rainbow with the hand of God
summoning her to his house. With that
said I pray for God to comfort her family
and mine as well.

To my tia Fede’s family: I am deeply
sorry about Ita. She will be dearly
missed by all of us. Tia was a wonderful
person with everyone. I was gone from
here for many years but my memories as
a kid of her are mainly of her either in
her garden or at the wood pile and all
the time just whistling or singing away. I
came to realize and understand as I got
older just how hard this lady worked to
keep her family fed and sheltered as she
had to be both mother and father to
them and later on having to also take
care of her own mother. It sure was hard
to see her when her health started failing
her after all the things she used to be
able to do. I thank God that He let us
have her for this long. May all the good
memories of your mom comfort you at
this time.

FOR TIA FEDE'S FAMILY:
I am sitting here this morning trying to
get some work done and find that it is
impossible as my thoughts are with Tia
Fede and her family. She was so special
to my family and as my madrina, was
especially special to me. My mother
loved her very much and was always
wishing she could make her life easier. I
know that Tia made life easier and
happier for my mom, and for that, I will
always be grateful. As Tia's sons and
daughters, you are my first cousins, but
I have always felt like you are more like
brothers and sisters. This is because of
the closeness of our families throughout
our growing up years in Cerro. We had
some tough times, but I prefer to
remember the many good times. Tia
was a big part of that for my family and
me. She was always there when
needed. I know that she will always be
a part of all of you as my mother has
been a part of me even after all these
years. You will miss her greatly, but I
can't help but be happy for her as she is
now in the presence of those she loved
who went before her, so she is in very
good hands. May God bless you all and
be with you through this sad time.

For mi Tia Fede,
our condolences to all of her familia.
we were sorry to hear about her passing,
yet glad because we know that she is
definitely in a better place.
i am writing for my mother,Joyce, because
she wanted to say a few words:
"There's so much, and yet i find it difficult
to say exactly how i feel about my "Tia
Feathers. " I do know that she meant a
great deal to my mother, Clorinda, and
myself. one of the things that come to mind
is her Laugh. i smile just remembering it.
she was a great part of my childhood. i will
miss her dearly but will carry her with me,
in my heart, always. I am also very proud of
her family for taking such good care of her.
Just know that all of you are in my thoughts
and prayers." From Joyce Hyatt (Gallegos)
and her daughters.
