EUGENE (GENE) ANSELMO MEDINA
SAN LUIS – EUGENE ANSELMO MEDINA, 63, of San
Luis passed away in Alamosa on Thursday, August 2,
2007. He was born to Anselmo and Adelia Medina on
March 23, 1944 in San Luis, Colorado. He married his
wife Janice on June 6, 1964.
His hobbies included fishing, gambling, boating, traveling,
working on his house, riding his Harley, and especially
spending time with his family. He was on the Sangre De
Cristo Parish Council. He was a firefighter in Colorado
Springs for 9 years. He was Executive Director for the
Costilla County Housing Authority for 23 years. He was a
former Police Commissioner and was on the city council
in San Luis.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one son Kelly,
and one sister Veronica Gold.
He is survived by his wife Janice, two sons; Gene
(Cecilia) Medina of Colorado Springs, Jason (Stephine)
Medina of San Luis, one daughter Janene (Alfred)
Mondragon of Las Colonias, two brothers; Frank (Rayma
)Medina of Los Temporales and Ricky (Maria) Medina of
San Luis, Three sisters; Anna Lee (Amadeo) Martinez of
Colorado Springs, Kathy (Charlie) Maestas of San
Francisco ,CO, Anselma (Vivian) Montoya of Las Vegas,
Nevada, 9 grandchildren, Eunique, Chawntell, Fabian,
Isaiah, Christa, Alfredo, Kayla, Mercedes, and Andres,
one great-grandchild Alyssa and numerous nieces and
nephews.
Viewing and Visitation will be held from 1-7 PM on
Saturday August 4, 2007 and from 1-5 PM on Sunday
August 5, 2007 at Weylen’s Funeral Home Chapel.
Rosaries will be held at 7:00 PM on Saturday at Weylen’s
Funeral Home Chapel and at 7:00 PM on Sunday at
Sangre De Cristo Parish in San Luis.
The Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, August
6, 2007 at Sangre De Cristo Parish in San Luis with burial
to follow at San Luis Cemetery.
