Dorothy “Yomi” Naomi Alvarez-Avila
DEPARTED  THIS  LIFE
February 14, 2008
Denver, Colorado

Dorothy was born July 4, 1948 in Jaroso and
raised in Chama by her parents Encarnacion
and Jose Herrera.  Dorothy’s maternal
grandparents were Margarita and Genaro
Sanchez (Chama). Her paternal
grandparents were Rufinita and Bernabe
Herrera (Ranchos de Taos).

Dorothy had three loving children, Xavier M.
Salazar, Sherri T.  Gallegos, Stephanie J.
Urrutia and an incredible son-in-law Trinidad
“Trini” Urrutia.    She had four precious
granddaughters whom she worshiped with
her whole heart and soul, Chanelle and
Michelle Gallegos, Adriana and Marissa
Urrutia.  Dorothy also had two younger
brothers, Tommey L. Herrera and John G.
Herrera, all whom loved her immensely...

Dorothy was the most loving, amazing
woman we all cherished.  Cooking was her
joy in life, and sharing it was her passion.
The food she cooked was plentiful and
delicious.  Dorothy always prioritized others
before herself.  Her family was the most
important aspect of her life.  Her doors were
always open to anyone who was hungry,
thirsty, cold, and needed an ear full of advice
mixed with a little laughter.

You Dorothy will forever be in our hearts, and
we will miss you..
