Dave Marquez

MONTE VISTA – Dave Marquez, 71 passed away on
December 20, 2006 at Casa Illuminaria in Del Norte.  He
was born to  Rumaldo and Eleonora Marquez on February
5, 1935 in La Garita (which is North of Del Norte)

He held a variety of jobs over the years.  He started out
following in his father’s footsteps as a sheep sheerer and
a truck driver.  He was also a logger, the manager at the
Frontier Station in Monte Vista, a mechanic at the Coop
as well as being the transportation director at the Monte
Vista Schools.

His hobbies included hunting, fishing, camping, horseback
riding, four wheeling, riding motorcycles, ATV’s and
spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Gloria
Marquez who got married on November 8, 1954, one
brother Leonard Marquez, two sisters; Rose Gallegos and
Mae Gallegos, one granddaughter; Crystal Montoya, one
niece; Lorraine Montoya, two nephews; Ted Marquez and
Ken Marquez and one great nephew Alex Birt

Dave is survived  One daughter; Deborah ( Tito) Montoya
of Del Norte, two sons; Glen (Lisa) Marquez of Monte
Vista, Alan (Kate) Marquez of Monte Vista, one brother
Felix Armenta of Loma, CO, four sisters; Josie
Manzanares of Grand Junction, Tina Manzanares of
Grand Junction, Lucille Espinoza of Grand Junction,
Helen (Modesto) Pacheco of Del Norte, ten grandchildren
and six great grandchildren and many nieces and
nephews.

A Rosary was held at 7:00 PM Friday December 22, 2006
at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Monte Vista.

The Funeral Mass was at 10:00 AM Saturday December
23, 2006 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Monte Vista
with the burial following at the San Luis Valley Cemetery.

Arrangements were made with Weylen’s Funeral Home in
